Have you been considering starting a podcast?
You have wondered if it is worth all the energy and time.
Let me tell you why I think you should consider starting a podcast not just tomorrow but today.
I do not think I need to convince you that I love to blog!
If I do not, then why would I have this blog? For those who are not aware, this blog is my third blog. For most new adventure I find myself, the next thing I love to do is create a blog around it. Writing down useful content as they come to me is becoming an addiction. If you find it awkward, then you need to read this: 7 Awesome Things You’re Loosing Because Your Aren’t Blogging. Maybe then you can know why I’m passionate about blogging. ?
I needed to tell myself – NO MORE!
No more blogs, for the sake of focus. I still really do not have an idea how to juggle up my limited available time with all my expressions and countless businesses online.
But, what If I tell you there is something I enjoy to do equally as blogging as a means of expression, perhaps more than blogging itself.
Well, I am not an expert recording engineer, neither am I a producer of any sort. I barely stand before a microphone. Somehow I was able to find a way around producing my own podcast. I’ll tell you how in the concluding part of this article.
Starting A Podcast
Dear reader, I’ll share with you in this article seven reasons why I feel you, yes you! Should consider starting a podcast today. Give me a benefit of doubts, and follow through my reasons below:
You Build Deeper Connection With Your Audience
This point stands out for me! Many content creator has not gotten to the point of figuring this out. Here’s a fact, when someone listens to your voice for hours every month depending on how often you podcast and how long your podcasts are, they are connecting with you in a way that supersedes anything they get from reading an article here or there or even watching those hilarious YouTube video. If this isn’t a reason you should think of starting a podcast then what else?
It’s hard to argue with the fact that podcasting gives you the ability to connect with your audience on a deeper level. Personally when I listen to a podcast, it more like a moment where two souls connect. I connect with everything, from how the podcaster talks, to the knowledge base, to vocabularies – I always feel I know Sharna when I listen to his mastery sessions.
Your Audience Can Connect With You Anywhere Anytime
It’s funny how we get busy with our lives today.
People usually hardly find space to create time to read an article or generally consume contents. I know people create time for what really matters to them, that is why we cannot overlook the efficacy of a blog or a YouTube channel.
In fact, the joy I get from knowing people consume my content and find value from it is overwhelming. But I really must appeal to you, never love my articles or my videos to the point of reading or watching them when you’re driving. That might be catastrophic.
However, you are very free to listen to my podcast when you drive, or at the gym, even when you’re cooking! A podcast is great because busy people Like You and I can easily connect especially when everyone now has a Smartphone. Gosh!
Have you seen another reason why starting a podcast is the real deal?
Another Way To Repurpose Your Content
In a world of Google (and even Social Media), content is still king. The more you can repurpose your content, the more value you provide, and the more ways for your content and message to get out there. Podcasting gives me another medium for taking the content that’s on my heart (and already on my blog) and packaging it in a different way for people to consume and of course in a different way.
There are some people who hate reading but love to listen to podcasts. They need to hear your message too.
You Can Start A Podcast Without A Penny
This is absolutely true! Podcasting is the easiest and cheapest platform to push your content out. I know a layman out there would think he needs to get a studio session to record his podcasts or needs to buy a mixer and microphone to get started. The truth is that you do not need any of those to start. Well, if you have the cash to invest, it is not a bad idea.
Once you have a Smartphone and also access to any Laptop or desktop (Note I said access, you might not even have a Laptop), then you can start a podcast. I find it very easy to record with my Samsung phone.
I personally do not fancy listening to a radio anymore, the same for my TV set. I may not even switch it on in a month. However, I spend more time now on a YouTube channel and a Podcast. What this communicates to me now is that Radio and TV are finally coming on the internet. Just like advertisement is now online, that is just the easiest and cheapest way to connect with people. The good news is that there is less competition over podcasting, podcasting is just evolving.
You would agree with me that the blogosphere is overcrowded. This gives a company like Google hard time to figure out blogs with great content, hence we see them changing their algorithm every now and then. Podcasting is still an evolving trend that should be invested into.
Are you already getting convinced starting a podcast isn’t a bad idea after all?
You’re supporting your partners
The most common format for a podcast is an interview. As the host of your own show, bringing guests on to interview allows you not only to expand the information you’re providing to your audience by tapping into your guest’s expertise but also to support industry partners. By asking someone to be a guest on your show, you’re giving them access to your audience, potentially helping your guest grow their reach. Likewise, if your guests promote the episode to their followers, you also tap into their audience. Both you and your guests can benefit from the added exposure, and by thinking of them as a guest you may also deepen your professional relationship with them as well.
This is such an awesome way to support each other as content creators and above all benefit from each other. If you ask me, starting a podcast doesn’t get better than this.
You can create content anywhere
The seventh reason is that you can create your podcast from anywhere. I’m currently creating most of my podcasts in my bedroom. I’ve created a podcast while I was going for a walk down the lane. I’ve created a podcast in my car. I’ve created a podcast in my home office. You can create it from anywhere as long as you have the right equipment. Right now all I’m doing to record this podcast is using my phone (Samsung Galaxy) and using the headphones that came with that so it’s very easy.
Starting a podcast is not as difficult has it seem or have been portrayed to be. As a matter of fact, it is the easiest way to create content. The benefit of starting a podcast really isn’t what should be overlooked by any wise content creator. If you have no experience with podcasting, then you can give it a try.
