You shouldn’t just end it all by reading; you must be able to take another step ahead – take action. If you take action, I’m confident that you’ll succeed. Because, this is not just another theory or junk. I’ve written this post on information product ideas based on my experience of creating and launching info products and generating income in millions in Nigeria.
Information Product Ideas- Where To Start
You want to earn more, everybody does. Probably you are in a job or doing something else, and you’re looking for a proven method to earn an additional income, especially passive income. There are lots of ways you can earn additional income especially online. If you’re blogging, you could run contextual ads like Adsense, or you could promote some affiliate products and earn a commission when someone buys through your affiliate link. You may not make a lot through the first, but you can definitely make a living with the second one – affiliate marketing.
Seriously, if you aren’t blogging, you should start now. You’re missing a tremendous opportunity there. You can consult, help others solving their problem and get paid for it, also sell your services or skills on your blog or platforms like Fiverr and others. You can do a whole lot. The problem with most of the methods is you need to invest a constant and regular time in it. You’ve to spend some hours regularly so that your earnings aren’t affected.
It’s no difference compared to the regular job or other stuff you are doing where your earning is directly tied to the hours you spend. You desire to earn an additional income so that you can be free. So that you are no longer bound by your 9 to 5 job, and you can travel to places or spend those hours on something else. Perhaps you even love your regular job and you want is to create passive income since it isn’t paying enough. What you need is a proven method that could help you earn a constant and steady stream of income that is not tied up to the hours you work. That’s the only way you can escape the rat race and finally achieve the work freedom you desire. And that’s where info products come into the picture.
Listen, I’ve been there and I know how it feels. Like you, I have also had my earnings tied to the hours I work, and it was suffocating me. I work so hard and barely had enough, my salary was nothing significant. I wanted to be free. Earning a little extra was nice. But it also required me to spend an hour or two extra, which I couldn’t combine and eventually quit my job and became an online entrepreneur. Everything didn’t just end, I noticed the trend continued, I had to put in a lot of time to keep earning online, the big difference was I enjoy what I do and can do it from anywhere. My search for passive income never ended, until I found info products.
I have quit my job. My earnings are no longer directly tied to the hours I work, I can afford not working for a day or two or even a week. I’m earning more than I could have made from my 9 to 5 job. I am living my life as I always wanted to. And honestly you can too. That’s why I am walking you through the exact steps I took to create and launch my first and most recent info product.
All you need to is read it, follow it, create your info product, launch it, and change your life. We can start right?
What is an Information Product?
First, you need to understand what’s an info product and why it’s the best option to achieve freedom from the 9 to 5 work-life.
An information product is a product of any form that helps others [a target audience] to learn something new or solve a problem. It could be a book like “Think and Grow Rich” or “How To Win Friends & Influence People” or… It could be video training like “My Website Design Mastery Course” or it could be a webinar or any other program.
If you notice, regardless of the format, all the info products mentioned all do one thing. They help their consumer to get better by solving a problem, providing a skill, improve quality of life and living, and so on. That’s what information products is all about.
Why Information Products?
Because information is the most valuable commodity in the 21st century and Nigeria is not left out. Creativity and personal development seem to sell and produce results. Hence, people want to learn. We want to learn how to improve our lives. We desire to learn how to solve our problem quickly and easily. We also want to learn a new skill that can make us “blow”. It’s how we are wired. We continuously seek information to fulfill those desires that need learning. And serious people are willing to pay for any resource that can help us to achieve these goals.
Have you ever wondered why the book “Think and Grow Rich” has been selling hot for 80 years? This is because we cannot stop our desire to get better – it will continue from one generation to another.
Peter Drucker once said, “The future is outside the traditional campus, outside the traditional classroom.” It’s happening now. The online courses and self-learning options are growing and becoming the new standard. And the best thing about info products is, you can create one in almost any niche or topic. You can create an info product on drawing, sewing, cooking, dance, music, pet training, gardening, yoga, exercise, life mastery, weight loss, etc.
It may sound absurd or strange, but in reality you will find an info product on virtually every area of life. If you have doubts, go to Udemy and Amazon and check:
- Want to learn Piano, you got a book and course for it.
- Want to learn to play Guitar. You got a book and course for it.
- How to cook? A book and course for it.
- How to eat? We got a book and course for it.
Name anything you want to learn. You can find a book or a video course or both to do so. And that’s the efficacy and potential of info products. Another amazing thing about info product is – you don’t have to put regular hours to earn from it.
You can write a book, get the cover designed by a graphic designer or do it yourself. Convert it into an ebook (pdf, epub, etc), then can start selling. And you can sell it and you’ll never run out of stock for a lifetime. Wow, that’s awesome!
The book “Think and Grow Rich” hasn’t been updated since its first edition, and it still makes money for its writer. Even after 80 years. Only creating and launching info product can make it possible.
Information product Ideas You Can Start Today
Let’s take a look at a few different information product ideas that I believe still work today and also for new entrepreneur who wants to create their first information product today.
For each product, I’ll state how you can sell, you can google any required website to checkout whatever offer they have.
Information product idea 1: e-books:
The first on the ladder is the ebooks. You create a short and focused ebook that solves one problem people want to get rid off and will be willing to pay; you are good to go. It is usually priced low and it is easy to create. Because you don’t need expensive tools or softwares or additional skills to create it. I created my first ebook without spending a dime.
How to sell your ebook
- You can sell the PDF file on your own blog or website
- Okada books
- Amazon, and so many other platforms out there.
Information product idea 2: Checklists and Templates:
People want to do things quicker and better. And checklists help them to do so, unfortunately this is not one common in Nigeria, but we can’t ignore its importance. They guide step-by-step through a set of tasks in an orderly manner and not to miss anything. And templates also help them to finish complex tasks quicker with an easy to follow steps.
There is a good demand for them, tons of searches on templates on search engines. If you are skilled at breaking down complex process into easy to follow simple steps, then you can create such checklists and templates. These products are also priced quite low, and the creator makes revenue from selling this to large amount of people over a long period of time.
How to sell your Checklists and Templates
- The best and recommended place to sell would be on your own blog and website.
Information product idea 3: PLR Products:
There is a huge demand for content and information people can buy and use it on their blog, websites or to serve as products. Not everyone have that luxury of time to spend on creating content or even doing researches, so they rely on buying products that fill these space. These people prefer to buy the public license rights [PLR] products, customize and modify them a bit and use it on their websites or for any other purpose. Again these are low priced products, and revenue depends on the large volume of sales.
How to sell your PLR
- You can sell on your own blog or website
- PLR Database, and other PLR sites out there.
Information product idea 4: Audio Courses:
These is not a popular one at all, not even in this part of the world, but there is a reasonable amount of demand for this – some would always prefer to listen than read. The same way some people still prefer to listen to a radio than watch a television. You can expand your ebook into an audio course and increase the price of the combo.
Where to sell your audio courses
- Sell on your personal blog or website
Information product idea 5: Webinars:
These are a recent entrant into the info product list and works pretty well. You run a webinar live or recorded, provide a solution to the audience’s problem or help them to do something quicker and easier and answer their questions at the end of the webinar. It works well because people can learn something new in a short time and they can also get their questions answered during the webinar.
The webinars can be priced a little more than the books but less than the full-length courses. Most digital marketers prefer to use webinar for lead collection and awareness for their online course or any digital product.
Where to sell your webinar
- Zoho Meetings
Information product idea 6: Online Courses:
This is a familiar one. This is how I make my earnings. I help people learn the specific skills without needing to break the bank. People can learn from anywhere and anytime they wish. Also, the buyers could access the course whenever they want as they get lifetime access to it and they also get the future updates free.
These product is designed in mp4 format uploaded in the members area, it could also have pdf’s available for downloads depending on the needs. All of these benefits together make online learning an attractive solution for the consumer and a potential revenue maker for the creators.

- On your own website or blog
Information product idea 7: Events, Masterminds, Workshops, and Retreats:
These are all advanced info products you can do once you’ve established yourself. These are offline events that are priced high and are also sold in the form of recordings post conclusion. And that’s it. You’ve learned what info products are and why are they a good option to achieve real freedom. And the different types of info products.
How to sell your Events
Events requires some logistics like venue, sound system, manual, etc. Any local event planner can help sort those logistics. Event tickets can be sold on
Information product idea 8: Coaching
Coaching is one of the fastest information product ideas to get started with today. This is just when you offer one-on-one tutelage and guidance to a client in your area of expertise.
Coaching is awesome for a few reasons:
- Many customers / clients are willing to pay premium prices for coaching services. That means your income can sky rocket with just a few clients here and there.
- You can coach your customers in person, with video conferencing (Skype, Google Hangouts, etc.), or even over the phone. This flexibility allows coaches to take clients without geographical restrictions.
- Another cool thing I find amazing is that coaches get to effectively conduct customer research with coaching programs. You can tap into their fears, goals, and vulnerabilities by interacting with your clients through one-on-one coaching.
There are a few not-too-good aspect to coaching though. Coaches need to be more involved in order to make money since they are offering a one-on-one service. That means a lot of continuous work in order to keep make money.
You are literally selling your expertise and time for money, and that has a natural limit.
How to sell coaching services
- Build credibility and authority in a niche – easiest way to do that online is to start a blog and write about trending topics in your niche
